Recently, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers in the blogosphere organizing contests very frequently and I think they are doing a good job to their blogs, their blog readers, and the blogosphere as whole (because the entire blogosphere have a chance of participating in the contests if they want).
But also some are not doing it, so I’m going to give you 12 detailed reasons why contests or promos are very necessary for your blog or business. So that all bloggers and business people who do and do not do contests and promos in the blogs and business can know the reasons necessary for a contest or promo on your blog or in your business and thus also know the benefits of it.
So lets get on to business. The 12 reasons why contests/promos are necessary for your blog or business are as follows below.
- More Traffic Or Customers For Your Blog Or Business: Everybody (or should I say most people
) loves free things and prize giveaways. So as a blogger or business person if you give away prizes or free stuff through contests or promos you have a lot of people coming to you because of the contest or promo you are running and as a result of this you will get loyal readers or customers from some of these people who will come from elsewhere to participate even though you won’t get all participants to be loyal readers or customers to you, some will surely stay with you. - Increased Revenue For Your Blog Or Business: When people participate in your contests or promos they are indirectly introduced to the content of your blog or services of your business and this brings about them being interested in your blog content or business services and thus when they purchase any of your services from your business or click any ad on your blog you get an increase in revenue.
- Keeps You Closer To Your Readers/Customers: Contests/Promos help bring you closer to your readers or customers because your readers/customers participating in this promo/contest get to know that you are there and that your blog or business is not dead and that it’s a growing and healthy blog/business and they also always stay close because they want to win more prizes or free giveaways from you.
- Builds The Popularity Of Your Blog/Business: Because of the number of people the contest or promo brings to your blog or business, it makes your blog or business popular when these people tell their friends and other people about your contest or promo.
- Builds Relationships Between You And Other Bloggers/Business People: Contests/promos build relationships between you and other bloggers/business people because you get to know the sponsors of your contest and this brings about relationships between you and the sponsors and this can bring about future business partnerships and joint ventures and also the relationships built can be between you and other bloggers/business people who get to know your blog or business through the contest or promo that you did.
- High Potential Of Joint Ventures And Business Partnerships: As stated above about relationships, contests/promos bring about a huge chance and high potential of joint ventures and business partnerships because you get to meet a whole lot of people through contests/promos and these people could be the sponsors of the contest/promo, the participants of the contest/promo, people who came to check it out etc.
- Shows The Care And Love You Have For Your Readers/Customers: Organizing contests/promos on your blog or in your business shows your readers/customers that you care and love them. How? Well, because you are giving them prizes for free which help them in their lives in one way or the other and when you help someone out with something it shows that you care and love them.
- Makes Your Readers/Customers Love You: Because organizing contests/promos shows that you love and care about your readers/customers as stated above, your readers/customers see this so it makes them love you because they know that this blog or business loves us because they are trying to make our lives easier by helping us out one way or the other through the contests/promos that they organize by giving us great and valuable prizes.
- Keeps Your Blog Or Business Interactive: Contests/promos keep your blog or business interactive, it makes your blog cool and fun to hang out at and it makes your business fun to be involved in. It doesn’t make your blog or business a one way blog/business it makes it a rocking blog/business .
- Makes Your Blog Or Business Sticky: Contests/promos make your blog or business sticky because your readers/customers will always have your blog or business in mind and will always want to check back on you whether you have something fun like a contest/promo, etc going on so that they can participate again.
- Builds A Vibrant And Fun Community Of Readers Or Customers For Your Blog Or Business: When a blog or business organizes a contest/promo they build a fun community of readers/customers around their blog or business because when participants of the contest/promo all try to win the prizes of the contest/promo they themselves are able to build and foster relationships between themselves and thus bring about a vibrant and fun community around your blog/business.
- Assurance Of Revenue And Traffic Or Customers In The Future: Because of the traffic/customers that contests/promos send you, you get an assured revenue and traffic flow in the future because readers/customers who get to know your blog/business through your contests/promos will have a probability of clicking on ad on your blog or buying or a purchasing a service or product from your business in the future thus bringing about an assurance of revenue and traffic or customers in the future.
So to conclude everything, your blog or business needs a contest or promo as one of its key to success because without a contest/promo your blog/business becomes dull and boring and your chance of success is very low.

One real KEY to a successful contest is prize sponsors. Not only can you get some real nice prizes to give away, which will bring in even more readers/contestants, but you now also have made friends/contacts with the sponsors themselves.
