Stop Roaming From Blog To Blog And Concentrate On Yours!

There are many bloggers out there who do nothing but roam from one blog to the other reading blogging how-tos, tips, ways to get more traffic on your blog and commenting on one blog to the other and in the end complain that their blog is not doing well, either in terms of traffic, authorization, or not being able to make money.

Well, I would say that they have to blame themselves for whatever that their blogs are suffering now because if you move from one blog to the other reading stuff and commenting and you are not concentrating on yours and not implementing all that you’ve learnt from those blogs you read on your blog then I’m sorry to say but you are a big part of your blog’s failure or expected failure.

There are two things which you do that makes you lose precious time and makes your blog lose big time and these two things are:

  • Reading blogs upon blogs for tips without implementing any: When you go from one blog to blog reading all blogs for tips to the level that you know almost all the names of the bloggers in your niche and even to this extent too you don’t implement any of these tips that you read from thes blogs.
  • Commenting On Other Blogs: Yes, it is good to comment on other blogs and I’m not against it at all because it is a really good way to build back-links to your blog. But some bloggers over do it and waste a lot of precious time which could have been spent doing something which has a beneficial relation to their blog. These bloggers just go to blogs and start commenting and commenting and commenting, but that’s not the significance of commenting. The significance of commenting is to build a relationship with the owner of the blog and it’s readers, build back-links, and draw traffic to your blog/site but not rather wasting all your precious time on it and making your blog lose.

So when you do these two things they make you lose precious time which you could have used on building your blog for the better and this in turn makes your blog lose in the long run.

Instead of doing the two negative things I’ve stressed upon above, do these two positive things below and then you would help benefit your blog greatly.

  • Choose Specific Blogs That You Love and Find Helpful To Read: You have to choose a number of blogs which you think you love and find helpful be it in your niche or any other niche that you would want to read regularly so that your time is well saved and balanced.
  • Comment Only On Blog Posts Or Articles That You Have Something To Say About: When you read a blog post or an article and you have something to say about it, only then that you have to comment on it, don’t go commenting on all blog posts or articles you have nothing to say about just for the sake of link building and drawing traffic because this will make you not give a valuable comment and thus lower your credibility and authority and will also take away your time that you could have used to build your blog for a better one.

So the next time you are on a blog make sure it has a good and valuable purpose and if it will help you and/or your blog in some way.

Do you have anything to add or say about what I’ve said? Please feel free to share it in the comments field. Thanks :) .

Did you mean…there is no use to socialized with other by visiting other blog ????

  2. Shirley says:

No, Bill, I meant you should limit the number of blogs you visit a day so that you can concentrate and build your blog more for the betterment of it. Thanks for visitng, Bill :) .

  3. You should follow my “Effective Blogging series” for my views on commenting and visiting other blogs. There is really no harm in doing all that so long you implement all you read/learn.

You’re right, David, but some of them spend too much time than needed on other blogs instead of theirs. Thanks for visiting, David :) .

  5. Shirley, great post. I can see where you’re coming from, but I’m going to have to disagree *slightly*. Blog commenting is one of the most effective ways of not only getting traffic, but also making yourself known in the blogosphere and building your brand.

When I first started my blog, I was probably leaving over 50 comments per day. Excessive? Maybe. But I was still finding the time to do regular posts on my blog and at the same time I was making my blog successul.

I now probably do less than 50 comments per week, but the fact that I commented so much at the beginning means that I still have regular commentators at my blog, and people still remember my blog name, even if they saw my comments 8 months ago.

The thing about blog commenting is that, if you’re going to do it, you need to do it a lot for it to work effectively. That way, people will see your name on loads of different blogs which they visit, which will make them remember you.

Also, the thing about spending a lot of time on your own blog is that soon, you’ll run out of things to do. Take me for example, I do a post everyday, but if I spent 1hr per day working on improving my blog from the inside (making changes to the actual blog), I’d soon be fixing problems which don’t exist.

I do feel it’s important to go and network with other bloggers. I guess my concluding line would be this:

Sure, spend time on your blog, and make your blog the priority, but don’t waste time making unneccessary changes to your blog when you could be on other blogs actively learning and promoting.

Sorry for the long comment; hope it helped someone out there! ;)

  7. Hey… It’s exactly this roaming from blog to blog that brought me to your blog in the first place!!!
    And I don’t regret that…
But you are right, reading about how to do this and that, and keep on reading, and never doing is wrong, and will not help your blog.

  8. [...] Most bloggers complain about not succeeding with their blogs and other unsuccessful things related to their blogging career and I know that this is caused by many factors but I think that not implementing what they read is a big factor of blogs being unsuccessful and I even wrote a post relating to bloggers taking action about what they learn about blogging on their blog which I titled “Stop Roaming From Blog To Blog And Concentrate On Yours“. 9. Well said! I think that too much time is wasted on minor things instead of concentrating on what works. And I think blog commenting is often used the wrong way. Quality is better than quantity in my opinion. As you say, you need to build up relationships rather than randomly leave comments.

LOL. I have to admit that I was blog roaming today when I stumbled upon your blog. I have learned to block out specific hours to read and research blogs so that I can focus on my blog. It’s just so easy to digress.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me.
